Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Dinner Plans app and DinnerPlans.ai (together, "Dinner Plans", "we", "us") collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Dinner Plans is operated by Turtle Creek Enterprises, LLC.
- We collect what you put into the app (your account, pantry, recipes, meal plans and household) so the app can work.
- Photos and voice recordings you choose to scan or speak are sent to our AI and voice providers to be processed, and are not stored by us.
- We do not sell your personal information, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- You can delete your account and its data from inside the app at any time.
1. Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and password, or the identifier and email (which may be a private relay address) provided when you sign in with Apple or Google. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
- Profile and preferences: your name if you provide one, dietary preferences, cooking preferences and app settings.
- Household information: if you create or join a household, the household's name, its members, and the profiles you add for household members, such as names, dietary preferences, allergies and foods to avoid. Information you add for another person should be added with their permission.
- Kitchen and planning content: pantry items and quantities, grocery lists, recipes you save, import or create, meal plans, ratings, likes, and other feedback on suggested meals.
- Messages to us: what you send when you contact support.
2. Information collected when you use features
- Camera and photos: when you scan a barcode, a shelf, a receipt or a recipe card, or import a photo, the image is used to identify items or text. Photos you scan with AI are sent to Anthropic for analysis and the results come back to the app. We do not store the photo itself.
- Barcodes: scanned barcode numbers are looked up in Open Food Facts and recipe/product services to find product details.
- Microphone and voice: if you use the voice assistant, your recording is sent to ElevenLabs to be converted to text, and the assistant's spoken replies are generated by ElevenLabs from text. The text of the conversation is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. We do not store your recordings.
- Recipe links: if you import a recipe from a web link, we retrieve that page to read the recipe.
- Calendar and reminders: if you turn on calendar sync, the app adds your meal plans to your device calendar or reminders. This happens on your device; we do not receive your calendar.
- Apple Health and Health Connect: if you turn this on, the app writes nutrition information for meals you log to your device's health app. This stays on your device and is not sent to us, and it is never used for advertising.
- Face ID / Touch ID: biometric sign-in is handled entirely by your device. We never receive your biometric data.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, we store a device push token so we can send reminders and household updates.
- Purchases: if you subscribe or buy tokens, we receive confirmation of the purchase, the product, its status and your App Store country or region from Apple (or from Stripe for web purchases). We do not receive your card number.
- Diagnostics: if the app crashes or hits an error, a diagnostic report (device model, OS version, app version and the technical details of the error) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. We configure it not to collect your name, email or IP-derived personal details.
- Usage counts: we keep counts of feature use, such as AI requests and tokens used, to apply plan limits and prevent abuse.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app: store your pantry, suggest meals, plan your week, share with your household and sync across devices.
- To personalize suggestions using your pantry, preferences, household dietary needs and feedback.
- To process subscriptions and token purchases and apply plan limits.
- To send notifications you have turned on.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce rate limits.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
- To respond to you and to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use it to train our own AI models.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run the app, with members of your household, and where required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Household members can see the household's shared pantry, meal plans and grocery lists, the names and email addresses of other members, and household member profiles. Instacart: if you choose to shop a list with Instacart, the app opens Instacart with your list; what happens there is covered by Instacart's privacy policy.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your account and app content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account and the content tied to it, and remove you from any households. Some records may remain for a limited time in backups, or longer where the law requires us to keep them (for example, purchase records). Photos and voice recordings are not stored by us after processing.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: view and edit your information in the app.
- Delete: delete your account in the app under More → your profile → Delete Account, or email support@dinnerplans.ai.
- Permissions: camera, photos, microphone, calendar, health and notifications can each be turned off in your device settings. Features that need them will stop working.
- Your privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, or not be discriminated against for using these rights. To make a request, email support@dinnerplans.ai. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
7. Children
Dinner Plans is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through their own accounts. A parent may add a household member profile for a child (for example, their dietary needs) to plan family meals. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Access to your data in our database is restricted to your account and your household by row-level security rules, and provider keys are kept on our servers rather than in the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International users
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using Dinner Plans, you understand your information will be processed in those locations.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If changes are significant, we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
